To Camp Or Not To Camp

Prior to 2020 we really enjoyed camping. Covid drove people out of their homes and into campgrounds for relief from the lock down.

The exodus into campgrounds made popular campgrounds fill up quickly. Then came the triple digit campgrounds or “rv resorts”. Since campgrounds now were popular some people slapped “resort” onto their name and raised their rates from the normal 30-50 dollar range per night to more than $200/night.

With the ridiculous resort prices most campers went back to the woods of the state parks. These were the only real campgrounds anyway. Real campers are there because they actually want to camp. While most state parks do include at least some RV space they still have a lot of good old fashioned tent sites. State parks are holding their own.

Hear’s the thing, if you are one of those people who likes Rv resorts you have to ask yourself why? Is it because you use the “amenities” to babysit your kids? Then there are the hateful hosts with two pages of rules. No thank you I don’t need you. Camping is supposed to be fun not enslavement to a bunch of rules.

There are no amenities in rv resorts that trump the beauty and tranquility of state parks. No they may not have pools and wifi but what they have is real like lakes, fishing, nature trails, waterfalls, quiet life without noisy people and golf carts.

The choice is yours but I hope you choose real camping and experience the great outdoors.

I love art, especially photography and painting. My next addition is crafts or primarily needlecrafts. And as if that was not enough, I am a genealogist.
