My Routine

Everyone has their own early morning routine. Mine is undoubtedly different from most people.

I get up anywhere from 5 – 7, go to my kitchen and grab a small pot and put on my stove. In this pot I put 2 cups of water to boil. When the water comes to a full boil I add 7 – 10 whole cloves and one teaspoon of honey. I let this boil for another minute and remove to steep for at least another 4 minutes. I know you are dying to know why! I have had IBS for more than twenty years which has been dormant for the last ten. Unfortunately I had been misbehaving and overeating which has triggered a flare-up. After seeing a few videos on clove water I decided to do my own research. What I found was pretty amazing. There are reports the use of clove water can help heal everything from minor stomach irritations, parasites (yes, humans get them from bad meat and dogs)  to cancer. Well I am here to tell you it definitely helps IBS. I am on day 5 of the 14 day protocol and am already feeling a lot better.

I started using spices for healing about three months ago. Since adding the spices to my diet I have noted my age spots are getting lighter, my hair is softer, I am more alert, the benefits are just amazing.

When I eat breakfast I add 1-2 teaspoons of turmeric, black powder, ginger, garlic and cinnamon. These all contain healing properties like antioxidants that promote wellness. A few of them are a little pricey but cost far less than a doctor’s visit.

Do your own research and start your own journey down the path to better health.

Home On The Range

Being Well Grounded

The one thing that I think is unique about my generation is the ability to be more grounded. By that I mean not just by  having deeper values but also just being able to adapt to the unpredictable.

Being grounded also relates to our ability to provide our own food, respect for farmers, and using the resources around us.

Grounding also relates to our basic health. When you walk on a beach are you barefoot or in shoes/sandals? Walking barefoot whether on sand or grass is directly connects you to the earth where you can benefit from the earth’s energy.

Go ahead, step outside and put your feet in the grass, and just breathe! Grounding has been associated with relaxation, lower stress, and even lower blood pressure.

Have a great day.

Smooth Your Way To Better Health

While I am not a big fan of “diets,” I am a fan of smoothies. They are quick, easy, and can be loaded with all the right stuff!

Today’s  smoothie is this….

Oh my, you almost missed it. Have not even given it a name. If you follow me on Facebook, then you have already gotten this recipe.

No, you won’t find this in a recipe book. As a natural health enthusiast, I am always looking for healthier options and playing with whatever I have in my kitchen at the time. This recipe is good for your immune system and is high in potassium. If there is something in it that you don’t like or have an allergy to simply alternate with a veggie like spinach or another fruit of your choice. My recipe also contains pumkin spice, honey, and tumeric, which also have health benefits. Here’s the recipe:

Smoothie to supercharge you. 1/2 mango, 1 whole banana (chill in frige for a day before use),6 large black cherries, 2 teaspoons honey, 1/2 teaspoon pumkin spice,a splash of tumeric powder. Add ice and blend in a large Bullet cup. Enjoy!

Take charge of your health and create your own smoothie!

Have a great day guys!

Awaken The Body

Let me just say for the record, I am not Buddist nor afflicted with any mental illness. I have touched on natural healing before. Traditional medicine is fine for broken bones and extreme conditions, but to stay healthy, you need more.

I have had arthritis since I was twenty-five, and over the years, I have tried traditional methods that did nothing more than mask the symptoms. This week, unfortunately, been one of those weeks when the pain has been so bad that it has just sucked the life out of me. Today, I fight back! I get out and walk.

Now, resting and listening to my frequency music, the pain is already subsiding.   To get the best use of frequency therapy, sit in a comfortable chair. Relax every muscle in your body down to your toes. With headphones on, so you can shut out other sounds, plug into Amazon music, or your favorite streaming service and search for frequency music, it is not hard to find.

While the music is playing, just let the music guide you into a more relaxed state. You can even fall asleep if you need to.  Allow the music to take you to a state of consciousness that awakens and relaxes every muscle, every cell even down to the bones.

Even after ten minutes, you will feel more relaxed and your pain a lot less. It did not put chemicals in your body or put you through the anxiety of a doctors’ visit. It simply helps you to heal yourself.

Feeling less pain myself now, I wish you a blessed day. Take the time out of your busy life to relax and breathe…

Is Traditional Medicine Working For You?

Regardless of your opinion about holistic medicine, you have to admit that traditional medicine is like a train that has left the tracks!

I have watched friends that are so controlled by the current traditional medicine system that they no longer enjoy life. They just became more like a lab rat that is spinning on the wheel of control. Instead of planning trips, enjoying family time or a hobby, they are more worried about the possibility of missing their next appointment.

I’m not saying you should not see a physician, but I’m saying the control should be in your hands, not theirs. It’s your body, not theirs. When you choose a physician, he/she is working for you, not the other way around. Yes because of my diabetes I see a physician that wants to see me on a regular basis and I follow that plan up to a point but if I want to skip appointments because they are scheduling them too often, I give myself a break.

Educate yourself on what visits are really necessary in order to maintain a healthy status and not just to line the pockets of the physician. Sixty years ago, people did not go to a doctor unless they were actively sick. Guess what? There were fewer people sick. When your country doctor retired, the next physician was not an independent but one who was controlled by a corporation. These corporate offices then sold out to even larger corporations and built impressive large-scale medical complexes. Get the picture.

It’s all about knowing what is necessary and what is not. Instead of flocking to your doctor’s office on demand, why not take the time to assess your needs. If you are not feeling well by all means, keep those appointments, but if there have been no changes in your health since your last visit, wouldn’t a trip to the beach benefit you more mentally and physically? Make the choice yourself. Even if the choice is unfavorable, it’s still your choice.

The bottom line is to have a healthy relationship with your physician. Make a routine yearly appointment if you are healthy, and if not, make reasonable appointments that do not cripple your lifestyle. There are so many things you can do to improve your quality of life, and that choice should only come from you or you, a designated person who has your health care power of attorney.

The physicians’office is not your home or vacation home. Wouldn’t you rather be fishing?

Have a great day.

Homeopathic & Me

Let me just say up front to be clear, I am not a physician or medical professional. That being said, I am very much an advocate for homeopathic medicine.

Our healthcare system has failed miserably. This country is unhealthier now than ever before, and it all could have been prevented.

Case in point: If you look at how our native american population has addressed their healthcare, you will see an all natural approach to disease. They use everything in nature without waste, something the rest ofvus still have not learned.

The use of tree bark, leaves, stems, and even flower petals play an intricate part in homeopathic medicine. The cool part is that it works. Knowledge is power, and I can’t stress that enough. There are a lot of books out on holistic medicine, essential oils, and pain relievers like accupressure, acupuncture, reiki, Tai Chi, and more.

For example, an aggressive cough from cold or flu can be aided by putting just four drops of peppermint oil directly on the chest. In just a few moments, you’ll fill a change. You can also sprinkle a few drops in a pot of steaming water and breathe in (you know the old-fashioned way with a towel over your head). Both methods are very effective.

I recommend these oils for your medicine cabinet: peppermint, camomile, frankincense,  eucalyptus, and tumeric. These are all good for cough and flu, camomile for sleep, frankincense is for pain. The most common complaint I hear is “oh they are too expensive”. My answer, not compared to a doctor visit! These oils are concentrated which means you can use them with a carrier oil like olive or coconut oil if you are concerned about cost. These last a long time and carry a shelf life longer than over-the counter meds.

Two sites I have found that are reasonable:

Hands & Feet

Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure and massage to specific points on the hands or feet to relieve pain, relieve stress and general well being.

Here are the points on the feet as an example:

Find a position that is comfortable for you. This is what I do. In a Lotus position (sitting up legs inward and on top of each other), begin applying pressure rotating in a circular motion and working your way down the foot and up both sides. I can tell you at this time I was experiencing back pain when I started but combing this with prayer the pain was gone in seconds.

There is nothing hocus pocus about it. It works. You are merely using the body’s own energy to help heal

Can’t do it yourself, make it fun with a buddy. Learn more about reflexology at the American Academy Of Reflexology website listed on the diagram above.

Take steps for better health. God bless you.

Invest In Your Health Naturally

I started changing the way I think about my health long before Covid. Prior to my retirement, I was a Doula and assisted moms during delivery in addition to my assigned job. During the course of my training and afterward I started looking at ways I could apply the natural techniques to my own daily life.

The things I have learned involve reflexology, massage, tha chi, meditation and herbology. You don’t have to be certified in any of these to use them yourself.

I can tell you I no longer take vaccines because I got Bell’s Palsy from the last flu vaccine three years ago. Despite the fact that vaccine was ineffective I have not had so much as a sniffle since I had Covid mostly due to some common sense living.

I try to eat healthy but don’t always so I do take vitamins as a part of my daily regime. To ward off the common cold, flu and covid I take Vitamin D3 and C with Zinc. For added immune protection and to reduce the effects of arthritis I take Tummeric. Vinegar in any from can not only aid with weight loss but can also reduce the toxins in the body.

Recently with the winter weather I decided to take a step further by making my own skin cream with essential oils. At my age the wrinkles are not going to go away but the oils can reduce the dryness and improve the softness of the skin. Here’s a recipe you can try.

Using coconut oil as a base (roughly half a cup) add the following essential oils one at a time:

3 drops of Lime , 4 drops grapefruit, 5 drops pine needle, 2 Tbsp raw sugar. Mix well and massage into the skin (If you frequently have allergies do a test of each oil before continuing)

Disclaimer – I am not a physician or licensed practitioner. This is merely a statement of what works for me.

I can tell you I have friends who stay in the doctor’s office…I only go when it is necessary. Take steps now for better health. Research is easily available, do your own. Your body will thank you.

Gaming Benefits

I absolutely love to play games from simple card games to complex computer games. They grasp a part of my brain and challenge me in a way nothing else does.

There are so many types of games it would take too long to list them all. I like playing casino games but I don’t like to lose, after all the whole point of playing a game is to win!

I am most at home in my office playing PC games. The benefit of pc games over Android games on my phone are simple.. a larger screen and memory base.

There are definite health benefits to playing games. When I can’t sleep I get on my computer and soon get sleepy and go back to bed. I have several of the “Candy Crush” games and several other games. The one game that has been recommended by a number of physicians to prevent alheimer is Mahjong.

Mahjong Tiles

While the above clip shows typical tiles I play a more advanced version named Mahjong Sheriff. This matching games evolves into a never ending board game

I have been playing Mahjong Sheriff predominantly daily for the last four years. I can certainly tell you my head is clearer and my memory is better since I first started playing this game.

If you are not a gamer and don’t yet want to download the game you can try it through Facebook.

Happy gaming and have a great day.
