Mountain Tears

My husband and I drove to our city park to see how high the river was here.

Already higher than normal, we’re wondering  how long it will be before the flood waters of the mountains trikle down.

We have had a 100-year flood here, but what we felt here was just a tear drop compared to what the western part of our state has been hit with.

While we send lots of prayers to all families in these devastated areas, we also know these are strong-willed people who will build back. The towns that have been lost will be better, bigger and more beautiful  than before. They have the spirit of eagles and the strength of bears. It won’t be today, it won’t be next week or even next year but one day they will be able to breathe a sigh of relief again.

Here are a few of my pictures in tribute to our beautiful mountains.

This spot was part of a campground in Marion that was wiped out by Helene.

The one good thing that will come from this horrific disaster is that it will bring people of all races, religions, and political choices TOGETHER!

Even when we ask WHY things like this happen we have to remember God has the answer even if we may not agree. He loves you just the same.

Much love and prayers for our western communities….we are here for you!

Camping In The Hills

Every year I am drawn to the mountains of North Carolina. I think it is a way that God calls me closer to him. This trip we were not able to get lodging were we wanted to be so we settled for Mt. Airy.

The campground was large with the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

While our view was limited…at least we knew they were there.

Here is something else we did not expect to find in this campground…two vintage vehicles.

We decided to drive the short distance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and get a few shots from the overlook.

Pilot Mountain

While I was disappointed that the leaves had not turned, the trip was still worth it. The pond below was just behind our campsite.

The Pond

Steam rising off the pond in the early morning hours.

Hope you enjoyed.

Don’t forget to like, follow and share. Thanks for visiting.

From The Mountain Top

I have always been drawn to mountains. This comes from partially because even the Bible speaks a lot about mountains. As early at Genesis mountains are mentioned in Genesis 8 :4 “On the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat”. In Isaiah 2:2 “It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills, and all shall flow to it”. For more biblical references here is a good site to go to: https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/bible-verses-about-mountains.

There is a spiritual connection with the huge peaks. Certainly when I stand on a mountain I feel closer to God. It is not just the height but more a presence. I have painted a lot of mountains. Here is this week’s mountain ridge.

The mountains tremble and quake before Him and the hills melt away and the earth is upheaved at His presence–yes, the world and all that dwell in it Nahum 1:5.

As children of God we can be mountains, firm and strong. We can stand and endure all things because our feet are firmly planted in the word. There is no need to worry about falling because our roots are embedded in the rock of salvation, Jesus Christ. In a time when “all things” are in question, God is the only thing that is certain.

Be a voice that can be heard in the wilderness. Be a cry that echos from the mountain top. Stand tall and unafraid because there is nothing here on earth that is too big for God. The Bible tells us multiple times to not have fear. If you live with fear you have already given up. Be like the pine tree that grows tall and wide. Let your words lead others to righteousness.

Have a blessed and wonderful day.
