On a cloudy day my husband and I decided to venture out to Clinton, NC. The next hour and a half would prove to be quite a journey through history at the Sampson County History Museum.
As you park in front of the museum this is what you will see:

This beautiful old house is the doorway to history. In fact on the museum’s brochure it says “Key To The Past”. They are not kidding, within eleven buildings there lots of artifacts dating back to the Revolutionary War.
Two of my favorites were the Country Store and the Bunting log cabin pictured here.

As interesting as these buildings were on the outside their contents did not disappoint.
There many things I could relate to from my childhood but even more I had never seen before. The most impressive pieces of furniture were in the Holmes House. There was a beautiful Square Grand Piano with inlaid mother-of-pearl on the keys and on the front just above the keys. There was also a vintage murphy bed that looked like an elegant piece of furniture.
Here is a copy of the museum’s brochure so you can plan your trip.

This so far is the best small town museum I have come across. Well worth the time and travel.
Don’t forget to like, share and follow me for more day trips across North Caroling.
Prayers of peace for America!
